[UPDATE] Following the publication of this story, Microsoft corrected its original statement regarding Xbox Music for Xbox One.
The original story is below.
Xbox Music will be free on Xbox One for Xbox Live Gold subscribers, Microsoft has confirmed.
"Yes. You don't have to subscribe, but you will get periodic ads," Microsoft director of product planning Albert Penello said on Twitter (via OXM).
This differs from Xbox 360, where users must hold an Xbox Live Gold subscription ($50/year) and an Xbox Music Pass ($10/month) to access the streaming service.
Microsoft's Xbox Music service officially launched in October 2012. Free streaming (with ads) is now available through music.xbox.com and unlimited access is unlocked via a Music Pass. Xbox Music apps for iOS and Android were released in September.
The Xbox One launches on November 22 in 13 territories, one week after the PlayStation 4 arrives in North America on November 15.
