Xbox Live Outages Hurt Player Trust, Phil Spencer Says
Xbox Live Outages Hurt Player Trust, Phil Spencer Says-November 2024
Nov 28, 2024 5:47 PM

Microsoft's Xbox Live network experienced downtime and service interruption issues on multiple occasions this week. Now, Xbox chief Phil Spencer has spoken out to apologize for the problems, which he says can hurt user confidence in the system.

"We have to earn the trust, each day," he said on Twitter. "And I know service disruptions hurts that trust."

In another tweet, directed at The Verge reported Tom Warren, Spencer said Microsoft needs to "minimize" the dependencies that exist between Xbox Live functionality. Check out the exchange below.

Any online network is liable to go down from time to time, as Sony's PlayStation Network also has been impacted by outages and service disruptions in the past.

In addition, attacks--like the ones carried out on Christmas Day 2014--can spell further trouble for online networks. Earlier this year, Sony revealed that the PlayStation Network is attacked on a daily basis

Spencer, meanwhile, has confirmed that Microsoft is working together with Sony and Nintendo to discuss the ways in which they can go about stopping such attacks in the future.
