Remember Xbox All Access? Microsoft only offered the service briefly in 2018, but it was a pretty sweet little deal – basically, you got a subscription to Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass, and an Xbox One console, for as little as $20 a month. You had to sign up for a 2-year contract, but at the end of it you owned your Xbox One free and clear. Well, good news – Xbox All Access is returning, and you can use it to get your hands on the upcoming Xbox Scarlett.
The cost of Xbox All Access will depend on which Xbox One model you choose – an Xbox One S All-Digital Edition will cost $20 per month, a regular Xbox One S is $23 per month, and an Xbox One X is $31 dollars per month. Overall, you actually end up playing less for your console and subscriptions than if you bought them separately – for instance, if you go with the Xbox One X bundle, you’ll pay around $744 over two years, while buying the console and subscriptions the traditional way would cost around $759.
As mentioned, if you sign up for Xbox All Access before the end of 2019, you’ll also have the option to upgrade to Xbox Scarlett once you’ve made a minimum of 12 payments. Just return your console to the retailer you got it from and trade it in for your spiffy new next-gen Xbox! Microsoft isn’t entirely clear about this point, but, presumably, the money you’ve already paid toward your Xbox One will be applied to the cost of the new console. It’s not yet known what the monthly payments for Xbox Scarlett will be.
Xbox All Access is available via Amazon in the US, Game and Smyths Toys in the UK, and Telstra in Australia (this it the first time All Access has been available down under).
Anybody out there thinking of signing up? If you’re interested in Xbox Scarlett at all, this is essentially an early pre-order opportunity!
