Nintendo's Wii may have taken all the attention last week as it launched down under, but the Xbox 360 still managed to rack up record sales, according to industry data trackers GfK Australia.
GfK figures for the week ending December 13 show that AU$5.8 million ($4.5 million) worth of 360 hardware and software were sold. AU$2.6 million of that figure was spent on consoles--the highest-grossing week of 360 hardware sales since the unit was launched in Australia.
The Xbox 360 has now tallied sales of more than AU$145 million ($114 million) since launching in Australia on March 23 this year. "We're pleased to report that despite new competition in the market, sales are showing no signs of slowing down," Xbox Australia and New Zealand regional director David McLean said in a statement.
The Xbox 360 has now sold more than 100,000 consoles and 400,000 games in Australia.
