Microsoft announced today, citing data from the NPD Group, that the Xbox 360 sold 140,000 units in the United States during June. This figure is down sharply from the 507,000 units the company sold during June 2012.
In addition, Microsoft announced that total retail spend on the Xbox 360 platform in June (hardware, software, and accessories) came in at $197 million. This is the most for any console in the U.S., Microsoft said.
Microsoft also touted its upcoming Xbox One, saying preorders for the next-generation platform are "impressive" and trending ahead of Xbox 360 reservations during the same period.
The full NPD report for June will be released later today.
