XBL, PSN brace for Final Fight: Double Impact
XBL, PSN brace for Final Fight: Double Impact-October 2024
Oct 21, 2024 10:54 PM

The Final Fight series has been mostly mothballed since 2006's poorly reviewed Final Fight: Streetwise, but Capcom is looking to change that. The publisher has announced that it is prepping Final Fight: Double Impact as a downloadable release for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Both games in Double Impact have an option to emulate the look of the arcade cabinet, as well as the gameplay. Double Impact will feature a tweaked version of the 1989 arcade original Final Fight, as well as next year's side-scrolling arcade action game Magic Sword. The "Double Impact" moniker has been used by Capcom once before for 2000's Street Fighter III: Double Impact on the Dreamcast, a combo pack featuring the arcade fighter's first two revisions.

Both games in Final Fight: Double Impact will include high-definition graphical filters (like in the recent downloadable editions of Marvel vs. Capcom 2), with the option to view the games in full-screen mode or to see them surrounded by the original arcade bezel art. Capcom is also adding online multiplayer action to both games, incorporating GGPO netcode designed to disguise latency for arcade-quality online play.

Final Fight: Double Impact is set for release in April.
