WWE Issues Statement After Wrestler Tests Positive For COVID-19-November 2024
Nov 24, 2024 4:06 AM

While things slowly reopening across the United States, we're all still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Wrestling is deemed an essential business in Florida right now, so WWE can still host numerous weekly events; however, the company just had one of its employees test positive for coronavirus.

On June 15, it was revealed that a wrestler who had been at the Performance Center one week prior has now tested positive for the virus. "A developmental talent, who was last on site at WWE's training facility on Tuesday, June 9, has tested positive for COVID-19," said WWE associate medical director Dr. Jeffrey Dugas in a statement. "Since that time, no other individuals that attended the facility have reported symptoms. However, out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the health and safety of the company's performers and staff, all talent, production crew and employees on site at the training and production facilities will be tested for COVID-19 immediately. Following the test results, WWE plans to proceed with its normal television production schedule."

The name of the talent infected was not released in the statement from WWE. This news comes a day after the Backlash PPV, held at the Performance Center. COVID-19 has already caused Wrestlemania changes back in April and the Hall of Fame to be moved to a later date. Additionally, it has affected the company as a whole, which led to Black Wednesday--a day where numerous wrestlers were released from the company.

Hopefully, this single case of a wrestler testing positive in the only one, and it doesn't spread any further.
