Team 17 has over the years been keen on riffing on its classic Worms formula by adding in new over-the-top weapons and scenarios to spice up the unending annelid wars. However, it now appears as if the British studio is taking the franchise in a new direction, if a listing with the Entertainment Software Rating Board is to be believed.
Worms will soon be trading in the lead for irons. The ESRB's online database is currently listing Worms Crazy Golf for the PlayStation 3 and PC. According to the ESRB's description, the legless, spineless combatants will set down their quest for global domination in favor of a 2D game of golf.
Courses bear titles such as Fun Fair, Graveyard, and Pirate Cafe, and in typical Worms fashion, the game will heavily emphasize the use of special abilities and power-ups. The ESRB notes that players will also attempt to complete challenges such as hitting sheep, bats, and other animals with golf balls.
Unfortunately, the ESRB's listing did not provide a release date for Worms Crazy Golf. Team 17 had not responded to a request for comment as of press time.
