World War Z Sequel Hits Another Snag, As Friday The 13th Movie Delayed
World War Z Sequel Hits Another Snag, As Friday The 13th Movie Delayed-November 2024
Nov 2, 2024 2:23 PM

Film studio Paramount announced some adjustments to its release schedule today. Perhaps most notable is that the World War Z sequel is no longer listed on Paramount's schedule.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, the movie was previously slated to open on June 9, 2017. As it stands, the movie now has no release date.

Director J.A. Bayona dropped out last summer; he's now helming the Jurassic World sequel. It's rumored that David Fincher is in the mix to direct World War Z 2, but this is not confirmed.

While World War Z proved to be a financial success, it was marked by considerable production difficulties. The film ran massively over-budget and behind schedule, and the release was delayed by several months while extensive reshoots took place. Nevertheless, it ultimately made $540 million worldwide, making it the most successful zombie movie of all time.

The other big piece of news is that the new Friday the 13th movie also lost its release date with no replacement set. Finally, Paramount announced that Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky's next movie, mother!, will come out on October 13, 2017. It stars Jennifer Lawrence, Domhnall Gleeson, and Michelle Pfeiffer.
