I just finished reviewing World Tour Soccer 2006 for the PlayStation 2 and, unlike the PSP version that I reviewed last week, I'm sorry to say that I didn't enjoy it one bit. The new PS2 game is not only inferior to the PSP game, but it actually manages to be even worse than its predecessor. In a year when both FIFA and Winning Eleven have improved dramatically, this is definitely not a good thing.
You should probably read the full review of World Tour Soccer 2006 for the gory details, but I wanted to make a post here to make one thing perfectly clear:
PSP World Tour Soccer = Good
PS2 World Tour Soccer 2006 = Bad
Besides inferior gameplay and eight-player support, World Tour Soccer 2006 really only offers two things that its PSP counterpart doesn't: EyeToy Cameo support (check out our screenshots to see how myself, Bob, and Alex look in the game), and a career mode that forces you to manage a school team, win a league with them so that they turn semi-pro, and then win the semi-pro league before you're allowed anywhere near the game's transfer market. I could go on...but I already covered all this stuff in the review.
Looking for a PS2 soccer game? Move along...nothing to see here.
