From the looks of it, official support for World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore realms could very well be announced soon.
As spotted by various outlets, including Icy Veins, Blizzard has added a reference to a Hardcore server type in the game database table of patch 10.0.7 build 482295, which seems to imply that Blizzard will soon officially support for Classic Hardcore servers. At the time of writing, WoW Classic players currently mimic hardcore mode through mods. For those unknown, hardcore mode is an optional game mode available in various games, including Blizzard's Diablo. In this mode, a created character will be deleted upon in-game death. Here's what Blizzard once wrote about this popular mode in the official manual of Diablo II:
"The important difference in a Hardcore character is that he or she has but a single life. Should your Hardcore character be slain, it is permanently erased from the game. Hardcore characters can only join games with other Hardcore characters. Hardcore characters are designed for game players who live to ride on the edge of danger. Hardcore characters are ranked on a separate ladder on Battle.net, and receive special honorifics in their names, which appear colored blood red."
Interesting for sure, especially since last month, World of Warcraft Classic's former lead, Brian Birmingham, teased something related to WoW Classic after an encrypted WoW Classic update surfaced on Blizzard's Vendor CDN.
"I’m a little bit biased, but I think you’ll like it", Birmingham wrote on Twitter some weeks ago following some questions about the discovered encrypted WoW Classic patch.
"I can neither confirm or deny, of course, but I can say that I always loved that idea", he added in a follow-up tweet when asked whether this build could be related to World of Warcraft Classic +.
