Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has a complex combat system full of different elements to take into account when going through each battlefield. Morale Rank is among them, and it’s a pretty important one. This feature can determine the outcome of each fight because it affects the amount of damage you take and how strong your enemies are.
Knowing how the Morale system works is important from the beginning of the game, as this element will significantly affect your adventure. You can find all the information in this guide.
Every enemy you encounter also has a Morale Rank displayed just above their head, which can be lower, equal, or higher than yours. In the first case, you will see this number colored in green. If the enemy’s Morale Rank is 1 to 4 levels higher than yours, it will be yellow. If this value is 5 or more levels higher than yours, it will be colored in red.
The higher their Morale Rank is compared to yours, the greater damage they will be able to inflict on you. Be prepared for a tough fight if the difference is significant and to your disadvantage. On the other hand, your chances of dropping rare items will be above average.
Marking and Battle Flags are important as well. Every time you raise one of them, your Fortitude Rank will be increased. This number is displayed in the upper section of the screen, near the right corner. It plays a significant role in the game, as your Morale Rank can’t fall below your Fortitude Rank. For example, if your Fortitude Rank equals 15, your Morale Rank will always be 15 or higher and never drop below this value.
There are many Battle and Marking Flags scattered around each battlefield. The first type serves as a checkpoint, and your health will be replenished here. You can also level up, learn new Wizardry Spells, recruit allies, and more. Marking Flags aren’t that versatile, as they are mostly landmarks in the area, usually hidden in places off the beaten track. However, they will also bring your health back to max.
Both will increase your Fortitude Rank, so ensure you find them all before starting a boss fight, as the game difficulty can't be changed from the settings. You can monitor your progression by looking at the right corner of the screen, just below the number that shows your actual Fortitude Rank.
If you get stuck against a particular enemy, max your Morale Rank level to 25 before battling them again. You will have a higher chance of winning the fight. And if you need more help with the game, you can check our Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty beginner’s guide.
