With Big E As WWE Champion, We Need New Day Vs. Bloodline At Survivor Series
With Big E As WWE Champion, We Need New Day Vs. Bloodline At Survivor Series-December 2024
Dec 22, 2024 1:41 AM

On the September 13 episode of Monday Night Raw, Big E did exactly what he said he would do, and succeeding in cashing in his Money in the Bank contract to become the new WWE Champion. His victory was celebrated throughout the WWE Universe and on social media, even across to Smackdown where reigning Universal Champion Roman Reigns seemingly endorsed the win.

"Smart decision," Reigns said. Simple, but could bear a double meaning. Was it smart to choose Bobby Lashley over Roman since he might have actually had a chance at winning? After winning the briefcase, Big E taunted Reigns and Paul Heyman in backstage bits for months, teasing that Roman would be the one.

Now, with Big E as champion not only does Extreme Rules need to change up, but what could also be down the line when Survivor Series rolls around. In recent years, Survivor Series has been rebranded the only time WWE has cross-brand matches with superstars and champions from Raw and Smackdown wrestling each other.

The New Day and Usos have crossed paths several times across their careers. New Day went up against the Shield at the 2017 Survivor Series, with Roman, Dean, and Seth getting the win. Big E's and Roman's trajectory seems inevitable but adding in the Usos and the rest of New Day could be what both teams need.

"They are an all-time great tag team, very top tier, and I have so much respect for them and what they do," Big E recently told Sports Illustrated. "Roman has added a new wrinkle. And even though we ran with them years ago, Roman and Paul Heyman have added a whole new dynamic."

Big E continued with how he loved the idea of faction vs faction matches and how they really work, and that they're still getting to prove their place in the company. "If we're working with The Bloodline, we could have an all-time great feud," Big E said.

Roman Reigns is nigh-untouchable over on the blue brand and recently celebrated a full year as Universal Champion, even snagging the No. 2 spot on the 2021 PWI 500. Reigns has established himself as the top star of the company with this acclaimed heel turn as the proclaimed Tribal Chief. Big E has evolved over the years from a powerhouse in NXT and Dolph Ziggler bodyguard to a more lively comedic role, but he's never been faced with this sort of opposition.

There's still a lot of time between now and Survivor Series, obviously, and with Extreme Rules about to get a change of card, it still could be doable and something that could solidify E's place at the top.
