Witcher Star Henry Cavill Says He's Recovering Well After On-Set Injury-September 2024
Sep 23, 2024 12:26 AM

Netflix's fantasy hit The Witcher was one of several shows and movies that resumed shooting in the UK last summer, but production faced a setback last month when star Henry Cavill suffered an on-set leg injury. Now Cavill has updated fans on his recovery.

The actor revealed that his injury, which he sustained while in an elevated safety harness, was healing well. In a post on Instagram he stated, "We are in lockdown here in the UK so I'm using my once a day outdoor exercise to go for my first jog since my hamstring injury. It wasn't fast, and it certainly [wasn't] far, but it has been a major step in my recovery, and my first step to getting back into the groove after a Christmas that may have involved more than a few cups of mulled wine, and an exceptionally fat Turkey." Although Cavill isn't currently working on The Witcher Season 2, production on the show has continued without him. The series has also had two pauses due to positive COVID-19 tests in the past few months. Season 2 doesn't have a premiere date yet, but it is likely to be released later in 2021.

A Witcher spin-off was also announced last summer. The new show will be titled The Witcher: Blood Origin, and will be a six-part limited series set 1,200 years before the main show. According to Netflix it will explore the origin of the very first monster-hunting Witcher and will chart the events that led to the "conjunction of the spheres," where the world of monsters, men, and elves merged.
