Last September, Atari stated that it would be distributing The Witcher in Europe and Asia, but no news was given as to what its plans were stateside. Now, Atari has finally announced an agreement with CD Projekt for it to publish the action orientated role-playing PC game in North America, as well.
The Witcher casts players as Geralt, a monster slayer with supernatural abilities, in a world "rife with political intrigue, in which the lines of good and evil are blurred." The game is based on the world created by best-selling Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski in his novels. One of the boasts of the developers is that during the twists and turns of the plot, decisions made by the gamer will drastically change the outcome of the story.
The game, currently due for a Q2 European launch, will be released in North America this fall under the Games for Windows banner. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's full coverage.
