British publisher GMX Media has released more information about the upcoming real-time strategy game Will of Steel through the game's official Web site. Will of Steel promises to be a departure from the typical style of RTS games, focusing on a single marine officer, William Steel, given his first command over a battalion fighting global terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq. As players progress through the game, they will see Steel's career unfold in the style of a role-playing game, earning promotions and medals which will open up new combat options.

　　Will of Steel's combat itself aims to be a fast and fluid affair. It will do away with resource gathering and unit building, instead forcing players to use what has been given to them. Battles will also take place in dynamic environments featuring variable weather conditions, including rain and fog, which will affect the players' tactics.

　　Along with the typical mouse and keyboard interfaces, players will also be able to issue voice commands to select units by name, issue orders, and to activate special options. These commands can be used alone or alongside the more traditional interfaces.

　　Will of Steel is currently scheduled for a European release for the PC later this year. No plans have been announced for a North American release.
