Oct 19, 2024 1:38 PM

December 4's Westworld Season 1 finale picked up 2.2 million viewers on HBO, up 7 percent from the week prior and setting a new record for the sci-fi/western, according to Deadline.

With replays and viewership on HBO Go/Now added in, the total audience was 3.6 million. That, too, was a series high, rising 5 percent from last week.

Additionally, Deadline reports that Westworld Season 1 averaged 12 million viewers for all platforms for its first season, passing Game of Thrones and others to set a new HBO record.

It should come as no surprise, then, that a second seasons is on the way. The "mysterious and exciting" Season 2 is slated for late 2017 or 2018. A major theme for Season 2 will be "chaos," while we'll also learn more about Dr. Ford's true intentions with his new narrative.
