Working Designs announced on Wednesday that it will stop producing copies of Lunar: Silver Star Story for the PlayStation on December 31, 1999. The company will soon start an advertising campaign announcing that the game's sale will cease on that day.
The magazine advertisements will poke fun at people searching Ebay for rare titles, because it is known that mint-condition copies of the original versions of Lunar and Lunar 2 for the Sega CD often sell for much more than their original suggested retail prices. These advertisements will run in major gaming magazines in December and January issues.
According to Working Designs, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete is the second-best-selling PlayStation RPG of 1999, behind Final Fantasy VIII.
