Watch Kit Harington Perform Train's "Drops Of Jupiter" Without Knowing How To Play Piano-January 2024
Jan 14, 2025 5:42 PM

Game of Thrones star Kit Harington appeared on The Tonight Show recently where he put his acting skills on full display while performing Train's "Drops of Jupiter."

For years, Fallon has been trying to launch a segment called "Straight Up Goes For It," in which the celebrity guest performs "Drops of Jupiter" on a whim. Everyone said no, until Harington showed up this week and really went for it. He doesn't know how to play piano, but he's such a good actor that you can barely tell he's faking it.

"The sketch has been our white whale. We've been pitching it for years," Fallon said. "We finally have someone who has the guts to do it. He doesn't play the piano by the way. And he doesn't really even know how to sing. But, he's doing it because he's cool and he's funny and he gets it." Here's the incredible video:

When he sat down for his interview with Fallon, Harington discussed why he agreed to perform the sketch in what was Fallon's 1,500th show.

"The sensible part of my brain, the bit that said, 'You're not a singer. You have no connection to this song, it's of no relevance to anything you're talking about on the show,' said don't do it," he said. "But there was another little part of my brain, the bit that gets me in trouble, that was like, 'But what if you're brilliant?' 'What if it opens up whole new vistas of a career in singing?'"

Still, Harington acknowledged that about 10 seconds before things kicked off, a thought entered his mind. "That same little part of my brain said, 'You shouldn't have done this,'" he said with a laugh.

Harington stars in the second season of Amazon's Modern Love TV series, which just launched on August 12. He will also be seen in the upcoming MCU movie Eternals, which releases in November. Outside of those projects, Harington recently spoke about how one of his favorite memories from Game of Thrones was peeing in Iceland. He also recently recalled how his work on Game of Thrones led to mental health issues.
