Watch Fantastic Beasts Star Stand Up for Hufflepuff in Emotional Video-January 2024
Jan 12, 2025 6:02 AM

With Fantastic Beasts opening in theaters this week, star Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl) has taken an opportunity to stand up for the butt of many Harry Potter fans' jokes: the Hogwarts house Hufflepuff. He's sick of the abuse, and he's ready to let us know about it.

In a video posted to the MTV Facebook page, Redmayne admits that not only is he a Hufflepuff, but he's a proud member of the yellow house. He says everyone calls Hufflepuff boring and "beige," but Redmayne sees loyalty, "fierce friendship," and compassion in the members of the underappreciated house. He even gets so passionate that he ends up swearing. You can watch him do so in the video below.

Redmayne also reminds us that The Rock is an outspoken Hufflepuff, as well as Robert Pattinson (Twilight) who played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

"Also, Hufflepuff is J.K. Rowling's favourite house, so f***," Redmayne said before getting cut off. This was followed by a message that said the PSA was paid for by The Coalition for Better Treatment of Hufflepuffs.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in theaters on November 16. In addition to Redmayne, it stars Colin Farrell (In Bruges), Katherine Waterston (Steve Jobs), Zoe Kravitz (Mad Max: Fury Road), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), and Ezra Miller (Justice League). It's directed by Deathly Hallows helmsman David Yates and written by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.
