The world of Watch Dogs is growing, not with a sequel--at least not yet--but rather with an expansion that will launch later this month. Ubisoft today announced "Bad Blood," a single-player add-on for the open-world game that will launch September 23 for Watch Dogs season pass owners and September 30 for everyone else.
EugeneBad Blood is confirmed for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. As for the Wii U version of Watch Dogs that is scheduled to launch this fall? Ubisoft says, "We will have more information on the Wii U version of the game in the coming weeks."
In Bad Blood, you play as Raymond "T-Bone" Kenney, a hacker players met in the game's story mode. In the expansion, you'll get up to speed on T-Bone's backstory through 10 missions set in new locations around Chicago. Here is how Ubisoft sets up the story.
"Shortly after the events of Watch Dogs, Raymond 'T-Bone' Kenney infiltrates Blume one last time to plant a false trail in their system. Before he can disappear from the grid, he receives a panicked phone call from Tobias Frewer, a former colleague from Blume's ctOS prototype days, who's in desperate need of help. Putting his own escape at risk, T-Bone decides to help, but quickly realizes the details of his old friend's story aren't adding up."
The Bad Blood expansion for Watch Dogs also introduces "Street Swap" contracts, a new side mission system that Ubisoft says offers "endless hours of challenges." You can play these new missions in co-op (with friends or random people), which marks a first for Watch Dogs. In addition, you can play as T-Bone in Watch Dogs' Hacking and Tailing modes, and also through the ctOS companion app.
According to a post on the Ubisoft Blog, the Street Swap missions will allow T-Bone to acquire more skills and notoriety by hunting down Chicago gangs. Every situation has different objectives, some of which include bringing down gang members or protecting a witness from being killed.
On top of that, Bad Blood brings new weapons, perks, and outfits to Watch Dogs, including T-Bone's remote-controlled car called Eugene (above). You can buy the Watch Dogs DLC pass today for $20.
Watch Dogs launched in May and has shipped more than 8 million copies to date. For more, check out GameSpot's review.
