Watch Dogs 2 Thematic Narrative Approach Allows For More Diverse Gameplay, Side Activities And Multiplayer Detailed-November 2024
Nov 14, 2024 6:44 AM

The original Watch Dogs, released a while back on PC and consoles, is certainly one of the most controversial releases of recent times, due to the final game's graphics being much worse than what has been shown before release. Still, the game did feature some interesting concepts, which Ubisoft will try to expand and improve with Watch Dogs 2, launching soon in all regions on PC and consoles. A few hours ago, more details on the game have emerged online thanks to a recent Q&A session with the game's Creative Director.

The recent Watch Dogs 2 Q&A has been hosted on the Ubisoft official Twitter profile, where Jonathan Morin answered fans' questions. One of the most interesting answers was regarding mission variety, which was severely lacking in the original game. According to Jonathan Morin, the new thematic approach to narrative has allowed the team not only to explore various themes centered around people's relationship with technology, but also to offer unique gameplay elements which may be tied to the theme a certain mission is exploring. This, apparently, also holds true for side missions.

Jonathan Morin has also been asked about side activities, confirming that the team tried to dig into possible Bay Area activities as much possible. Watch Dogs 2 will feature a VIP club that does sailing boat races, an activity that has been implemented to give players a feel of California. E-Cart races are also mentioned among the possible side activities.

Plenty has also been said regarding the Watch Dogs 2 seamless multiplayer. According to Jonathan Morin, players will be able to challenge their friends at any time, but doing so will not reward them with followers, to prevent exploiting the system.

Regarding customization for characters used in the online mode, it's been mentioned that players will have plenty of customization possibilities. The team is particularly interested in seeing how players will try to conceal themselves with clothes. Lastly, it's been confirmed that Decryption mode won't be coming back, as the team wanted to have the online modes fit into Watch Dogs 2 seamless multiplayer.

Watch Dogs 2 launches on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 15th.
