Watch DC's Final Joker Trailer: A Dark Descent Into Madness And Crime-October 2024
Oct 20, 2024 8:52 AM

The much-anticipated Joker movie is now just over a month away from release, and Warner Bros. has released the final trailer for the film. The upcoming DC movie stars Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime, plus Robert De Niro and Deadpool's Zazie Beetz, and it releases in October. You can watch the new trailer above.

This latest trailer gives us more of the plot than the previous one, which was released in April. It sets up Arthur Fleck as a lonely, struggling comedian who lives with his mother. When she gets sick and he is mocked on TV by a gameshow host played by De Niro, Arthur begins calling himself Joker and starts succumbing to madness --and crime. Check it all out above and then head to our in-depth Joker trailer breakdown for a look at each scene and what it tells us about the full movie. Among other things, it looks as if Thomas Wayne, the father of Bruce Wayne, could play a more prominent role than we previously realized.

  Now Playing: Joker Final Trailer

Joker is directed by Todd Phillips, who previously helmed the Hangover movies. It also stars Bill Camp, Shea Whigham, and Marc Maron, and it releases on October 4. Unlike other DC movies, the movie has been given an R-rating, for "strong bloody violence, disturbing behavior, language and brief sexual images."

What's The Real Origin Story Of Joker? In a recent interview, director Todd Phillips revealed that the movie's storyline has no connection to any comic books. "We didn't follow anything from the comic books, which people are gonna be mad about," Phillips said. "We just wrote our own version of where a guy like Joker might come from. That's what was interesting to me. We're not even doing Joker, but the story of becoming Joker. It's about this man."

Joker is the latest of several movies on the way over the next couple of years from DC. It will be followed by Birds of Prey in February 2020, which sees Margot Robbie reprise her Suicide Squad role as Harley Quinn, with Wonder Woman 1984 is set to hit theaters in July next year. Ahead of that, there are also 2021 dates for a standalone Batman movie and James Gunn's Suicide Squad reboot, while Aquaman 2 will arrive in 2022.
