Wasteland 2 Xbox One/PS4 Release Date Revealed-December 2024
Dec 16, 2024 6:35 PM

Wasteland 2 will launch for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 13, Deep Silver and developer inXile announced on Thursday. The game comes to consoles by way of the Director's Cut version.

The Director's Cut gives the game, originally released on PC in 2014, a "complete visual overhaul." This includes a new lighting system, better-looking environments, improved textures, and "higher quality" character models. In addition, Wasteland 2 for Xbox One and PS4 has new voice-overs ("tens of thousands" of new lines), while weapon sounds have also been updated.

In terms of gameplay, console players may be happy to learn that UI and controls have been overhauled to support controllers. In addition, inXile has added new "Precision Strike" and "Perk & Traits" systems, while console players can also look forward to tweaks to combat and balancing.

PC players aren't being left in the cold, however, as these updates are included with the free Wasteland 2 Game of the Year Edition upgrade.

If you're attending Gamescom next week, you'll be able to play Wasteland 2 for Xbox One and PS4 at Deep Silver's booth on the show floor.

Wasteland 2, a sequel to a 26-year-old game, was originally funded on Kickstarter, where it raised nearly $3 million. It wasn't inXile's only Kickstarter su, as the developer also raised funds for Torment: Tides of Numenera and The Bard's Tale IV on the crowdfunding site.
