With WandaVision hitting Disney+ this weekend, actor Paul Bettany has looked back on his time in the MCU and what lies ahead with Vision and Scarlet Witch's story going forward. There was a time though where he thought it was over.

　　Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Bettany once thought he was being fired from the MCU. After the Vision died in Infinity War, Bettany thought his time in the MCU as a superhero was all over.

　　"My contract was up, and I got a call from Kevin Feige saying, 'Can you come into the office?' And when the boss calls you up and says to come by the office when your contract is up, you know what that means. So I looked at Jennifer [Connelly], and I was like, 'I'm outta here.'"

　　So I went in, and I didn't want anything to be uncomfortable between us all because it's been such a great time. So I walked in and said, 'Kevin and Louis [D'Esposito], I love you. I totally get it. It's been a great run and no hard feelings.' And Kevin went, 'Wait, are you quitting?' And I went, 'No, aren't you firing me?' And he went, 'No, we were going to pitch you a TV show.'"

　　Bettany went on to return in Avengers: Endgame and having WandaVision announced at Comic-Con in 2019. While the first two episodes of the series don't arrive until January 15, GameSpot's Chris E. Hayner watched the first three episodes. In his WandaVision review, he said, "Marvel Studios attempted something they hadn't tried before and wound up with a show that's somehow a classic family sitcom that is also propelling forward the storytelling of the universe of epic films that has been unspooling for over a decade. Now you will just have to wait for the slow burn narrative to reveal itself."
