Our brothers-in-arms over at CNET UK are running a tournament, not unlike our recent Greatest Game Villain competition, to discover the Greatest Gadget of the 21st Century.
Over the next six weeks, 32 amazing bits of tech from the past 10 years will be pitted against each other. The aim? To decide which era-defining gadget deserves to wear the crown. Which gadgets make it through to the grand final are completely up to you--the outcome of each technological clash will be decided entirely by your votes.
After a week's worth of voting, the gadgets in each pairing with the fewest votes will be unceremoniously chucked on the scrapheap, while the surviving 16 gadgets move onward to face new challengers. The following week, they repeat the process, until a victor emerges from the digital dust.
From the iPhone to the Xbox 360, the Kindle to the Nintendo DS, your favourite gadgets need your support. Is Windows better than Mac? Is the PlayStation 3 manlier than the Xbox 360? How about Blu-ray versus HD-DVD? All bets are off, and old scores will doubtless be settled as your favourite bits of kit square off in the coming weeks.
Before voting kicks off next week, CNET UK wants you to make your predictions for both the grand champion and the results of individual matchups. If your predictions turn out to be the most accurate, you'll win an Xbox 360 with Kinect.
You have until Sunday to make your predictions--go to the pick the winner page on CNET UK to get started. On the off-chance you're still confused, check out this nifty FAQ.
