Vivendi's games division not for sale
Vivendi's games division not for sale-September 2024
Sep 21, 2024 7:47 AM

According to Reuters, Ken Cron, division chairman and chief executive at Vivendi Universal, has stated that the company has no intention of selling its games division despite recent 6023286reports to the contrary.

In the last week, Vivendi Universal Games has made two significant announcements of its own--the signing of a 10-year 2880790deal with Marvel to develop online multiplayer games featuring the 4,700 or so characters from the comic-book universe and the Tokyo Game Show announcement of 2880889Starcraft: Ghost --which suggests that Vivendi is continuing to strengthen its games division rather than looking to sell it. The Vivendi games division consists of three publishers: Sierra, Blizzard, and Universal Interactive.

After the recent success of Warcraft III , it's hardly surprising that Vivendi is looking to stay in the games business, and Cron affirmed that Vivendi Universal Games is "an integral part of the future" for the French company. Nevertheless, the troubled conglomerate has over $18.5 billion worth of debt to deal with, so there may indeed be more news on this in the future.
