Actor Vin Diesel would like Robert Downey Jr. to appear in the next Fast & Furious movie. Speaking to Variety, Diesel--who plays main protagonist Dom Toretto in the series--said he'd like to see the Iron Man actor play a character who is at "direct odds" with Toretto and what he stands for.
"Without telling you too much about what happens in the future, there's a character who is the antithesis of Dom who is promoting AI and driverless cars and a philosophy that with that goes your freedom," Diesel said. "There is somebody that believes that's the future, and that's at direct odds with the Toretto mentality."
Diesel stopped short of confirming if he's actually sat down with Downey Jr. to discuss the possibility, but Diesel is clearly excited about the idea.
Diesel's Fast X co-star Michelle Rodriguez, meanwhile, said she wants to see Matt Damon join the franchise. "Matt Damon, would you be in a Fast and Furious movie? C'mon, we got four Oscar winners, man. And you're an Oscar winner!" she said.
The four other Oscar winners from Fast X include Rita Moreno, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, and Brie Larson. Damon won an Oscar for 1997's Good Will Hunting.
Fast X is set for release on May 19, and Fast 11 is expected to follow in 2024. Diesel previously spoke about why he wanted to end the franchise. "I know people are going to feel like it doesn't have to end, but I think all good things should," he said in 2021. "There are reasons for a finale. I think this franchise has deserved it."
