V Rising – Five Tips and Tricks on Getting Started
V Rising – Five Tips and Tricks on Getting Started-October 2024
Oct 31, 2024 3:25 AM

V Rising has been an enormous success so far, achieving excellent sales on Steam despite being still in early access. The game features RPG, survival, and MMO mechanics and lets you play as a vampire just awakened from centuries of slumber. You will hunt for blood, collect resources, find new servants and build your castle, aiming to dominate the world of Vardoran.

However, V Rising’s mechanics and gameplay may look a bit overwhelming for new players, especially those who don’t have familiarity with survival games. So we have gathered five tips and tricks to help you get started with Stunlock Studios’ latest release.

Choose the game mode carefully

Before starting a new game, you must choose between four game modes: PvE, PvP, Full Loot PvP, and Duo PvP. We highly recommend starting with PvE if you want to become familiar with the game mechanics first. This way, you will join an online server with other players that won’t attack you or your castle. You will have all the time you need to get confident with the gameplay, explore the map and have fun without the fear of losing your loot after an enemy raid. Instead, if you want to challenge other V Rising players and loot their inventory, you can do that in PvP. Be careful, though: you could be raided and killed as well.

Full Loot PvP adds a twist to the standard player versus player mode. It is the most challenging option and should only be selected by true V Rising masters. Joining a clan is highly recommended if you want to win as many raids as possible, and each group can be formed of four vampires max. Moreover, you will need to raid a castle or defend yourself within a given time frame; otherwise, you will lose all your loot. Duo PvP, lastly, is similar to Full Loot PvP, but you will pair with only one other player.

Beware of the sun

As per tradition, vampires die when hit directly by sunlight. V Rising is no exception; you will have to be very careful when exploring the map; otherwise, you will get consistent damage and burn to death. Be sure to keep an eye on the clock placed at the upper right angle of the screen, so you know exactly when the day will come.

While it is better to rest in your castle during the daytime and carry out all your tasks during the night, you can still move when the sun is shining. Just follow the shadows of the trees and other structures, and you will live. Beware that they follow the sun, changing their orientation throughout the day.

Use the right weapons

To craft new items, you need to use the right weapons for each material. You can use your ax for wood, while your sword will do great with the greenery. The mace is perfect for destroying stones, and the spear can be used on creatures. This will speed up the whole process consistently and help you gather more resources during your time in V Rising. However, a sword can still be used for cutting trees, and an ax can smash any plant, but they will do that much slower than the designated weapon.

Follow the Journal Quests

When you first start the game, you will get a list of quests that will help you know the game and get confident with its mechanics. While they are not mandatory, you can get exciting rewards and unlock essential abilities upon completing them. If you ignore them, you will soon regret that and will be unable to collect new weapons, gears, or items to power up your castle.

Gather as many resources as you can

You have a huge inventory in V Rising. Therefore, you can afford to gather everything you can, especially during your first hours of play: you won’t run out of space anytime soon. The game relies heavily on crafting, so you will need many materials to build the best equipment and power up your castle. If you want to secure your belongings or simply add more item slots later in the game, you can always place one or more chests in your castle and secure the resources there.

With these tips in mind, you can start your journey in the world of Vardoran and become a fearsome vampire. Keep an eye out for more V Rising guides coming soon!
