US PC game charts: September 17-23-November 2024

After months of Sims 2 and World of Warcraft domination, NPD's weekly list of the top 10 PC games is seeing a consistent shakeup. The best-selling PC game in the nation during the week of September 17-23 was a relative newcomer, THQ's Company of Heroes. After debuting the week before, the World War II real-time strategy title rode a wave of critical acclaim to the top.

Company of Heroes displaced another fresh face, Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. The LucasArts' movie-toy crossover slipped to fourth place, behind The Sims 2 Glamour Life Stuff (second) and the recently parodied World of Warcraft (third).

WOW's nemesis, the Sims 2, also made the chart, landing at number five. That was enough to best the still-popular minigame compilation Cars: Radiator Springs Adventures (sixth) and Sim City 4: Deluxe Edition, which also stayed on the chart at number seven.

Returning to the chart were Civilization IV (eighth) and Age of Empires III (ninth). Also making a comeback after a long absence was Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2006, whose new $10 average selling price was enough to get it the number-10 slot.

Dropping out of the top 10 were Company of Heroes: Collector's Edition, Warcraft III: Battlechest, and The Sims 2: Open for Business.
