[Update] EA and Respawn released today the full Star Wars Jedi Last Order gameplay demo that was shown during EA Play 2019. You can find the video below.

[Original Story] Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order is in the works by Respawn. The team used the Source Engine for the Titanfall games, but it's using the Unreal Engine 4 for the upcoming single-player game. According to members of the development team, there's a very good reason for it.

Speaking with Game Informer, Respawn's CEO Vince Zampella confirmed that Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order is powered by the Unreal Engine 4 because it's easier to find developers who are familiar with it. The engine is also quite powerful and it allows the developers to do what they want to do without having to adapt and tweak another engine, like Source.

It made sense for the team, you know. So we are hiring up for a new team. It’s easier to find people that have Unreal Engine 4 experience, it was an engine that fit what we were kind of trying to do, instead of trying to adapt the Source Engine over. In evaluating all the engines that were available to us this is the one that the team felt it was the best choice.

Zampella also noted how Respawn was not forced to use EA's Frostbite engine, although it was among the choices.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order launches on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 15th.
