[Updated] Total War Dev Creative Assembly Possibly Creating a New Alien Game – Rumor-October 2024
Oct 30, 2024 3:27 PM

[Update] According to sources close to Eurogamer, Creative Assembly is working on a new project, but this won't be a new Alien title.

More than that, we're told the majority of the Alien: Isolation design team no longer works at Creative Assembly. Cross-referencing the more recent Halo Wars 2 credits with the credits for Alien: Isolation certainly suggests this is the case. In fact, most of the names that do reappear only do so in the 'Special Thanks' section and belong to designers that now work elsewhere.

[Original story] Creative Assembly, the studio behind Total War, Halo Wars 2 and Alien: Isolation, might very well soon start development on a new Alien game.

The rumor originates from the Official PlayStation Magazine, which reports that development might soon begin after work is finished on Halo Wars 2. Down below you’ll find the full quote from the magazine, as covered by website PSU:

''Our sources tell us that after work is finished on Halo Wars 2, a new Alien game may start development over at Alien Isolation dev Creative Assembly.'

Alien Isolation was released to critical acclaim back in October of 2014 after being officially announced by publisher Sega and Twentieth Century Fox earlier that year.

“In Alien: Isolation, we have taken the series back to the roots of Ridley Scott’s 1979 movie, the original survival horror,” said Alistair Hope, Creative Lead at Creative Assembly following the game’s announcement. “Our Alien is a truly terrifying creature, as intelligent as he is hostile, relentless, brutal and unstoppable. This is the Alien game fans of the series have always wanted.”

“Creative Assembly has created a truly incredible gaming experience, capturing perfectly the very core of what has made the Alien franchise remain relevant after 35 years,” said Jeffrey Godsick, president of Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products. “This partnership has led to the creation of a game that is simply outstanding and sets the tone for what is to come this year for the 35th anniversary of Alien.”

Back In October 2015, Creative Assembly studio director Tim Heaton already hinted at a possible sequel, though he also highlighted that he was disappointed with the game’s sales. “Alien: Isolation 2 is not out of the question, because we’re so proud of it and there’s possibly more to be said. But do we really want to be spending very significant amounts of money, and getting close to break-even or just about in the black? That’s not where Sega wants to be, when we have a brilliant portfolio of other games that do great business.”

As always, we will keep you updated in case we learn more on this matter.
