[UPDATE] Bethesda has confirmed that, after initially adding official Starfield NVIDIA DLSS support via Steam Beta next week, a future update will also introduce support for AMD FSR3. No specific details about the timing of this upcoming update have been provided just yet.

Note, DLSS is for PC Nvidia users only. We’ll also have AMD FSR3 support in a future update.

[ORIGINAL STORY] Official Starfield NVIDIA DLSS support with frame generation will be arriving on Steam next week, Bethesda has announced.

Back in September, after having launched only with official support for AMD FSR, Bethesda announced that it was working to add NVIDIA DLSS support (among other things) to the game through a future patch. To date, DLSS with frame generation is only possible through community mods, including PureDark's paid DLSS 3 frame generation mod and LukeFZ's similar but free DLSS 3 frame generation mod. Those who aren't into modding will be happy to learn that, starting next week, Bethesda will be implementing DLSS support with frame generation via Steam Beta next week. Aside from offering DLSS support, this beta update will add display and HDR controls alongside additional optimizations and improvements. A recent mod had taken care of adding HDR to the game's PC version since there was none by default.

After being released via Steam first, the update will be released on PC and Xbox as well. More details about this promising update will be shared soon.

"We've been hard at work on Starfield updates and will be putting our next one into Steam Beta next week", Bethesda writes on Twitter. "This update will feature Nvidia DLSS support with frame generation, display and HDR controls for supported systems, and other optimizations and improvements. You'll be able to opt-in to try it via the Steam Beta options.

Bethesda adds, "We’d love your feedback before it goes live for all PC and Xbox players after that. Stay tuned for the specifics soon, and thanks for playing!"

We'll update you as soon as more information about this update comes in. For now, stay tuned.

Starfield is available worldwide now for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Bethesda's title was released back in September and has since surpassed 11 million players globally. "We released Starfield this quarter to broad acclaim, more than 11 million people have played the game to date", Microsoft's Satya Nadella said during the company's Q1 earnings call. "Nearly half of the hours played have been on PC and on launch day we set a record for the most Game Pass subscriptions added on a single day."

We reviewed Starfield upon release and we're quite pleased with its engaging story, well-developed companions, stunning locations, freedom, and combat. "With an engaging story, well-developed characters and lore, and a huge amount of meaningful content, Starfield is one of Bethesda's finest games and one of the best role-playing games released in the past few years", we wrote in our review.
