Petroglyph, the developer behind the real-time strategy game Star Wars: Empire at War, is going back to battle with a new single- and multiplayer RTS titled Universe at War: Earth Assault.. The Las Vegas-based developer--with team members who have worked on Command and Conquer and Command and Conquer: Red Alert--will be bringing the new strategy title to the PC in "autumn." Universe at War will be published by Sega.
Set in the near future, the game finds the universe in the midst of an intergalactic war where multiple alien factions are invading our home planet, and it's up to the player to stop them from taking over Earth. Players will be able to use sci-fi weaponry and alien powers to lay to waste entire cities and territories.
A multiplayer mode inspired by massively multiplayer online games will let gamers earn achievements, rewards, and medals in a "persistent online campaign" to win supremacy.
