The Uncharted movie is once again changing director. As you might recall, it was originally scheduled to be directed by Shawn Levy (Executive Producer of Stranger Things), who dropped out due to his previous plans to direct Free Guy (ironically, a movie about someone who discovers he's actually an NPC living in an open world game).
Earlier this year, Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane, The Boys) was hired to be the director. However, Deadline now reports that Trachtenberg isn't attached to the Uncharted movie anymore and the producers are now promptly looking for a replacement, with the film's production scheduled to begin in early 2020.
Additionally, Deadline also revealed that this will be the first movie produced by PlayStation Productions, the studio announced three months ago to be dedicated to adapting Sony's videogame IPs for Cinema and Television.
Tom Holland will star as a young Nathan Drake, possibly paving the way for multiple installments. Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad fame is also rumored to be part of the cast of the upcoming Uncharted movie, though there's no telling in which role.
