Ubisoft’s VR Games To Support Cross-Platform Play Across PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive-December 2024

Ubisoft has announced that its VR line-up will support cross-platform play across Sony’s PSVR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

As of today, Ubisoft’s Eagle VR simulator, Eagle Flight, will be cross-playable on PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive. Players will be able to team-up or play against each other. Ubisoft’s other multiplayer VR experiences, Werewolves Within and Star Trek: Bridge Crew, will also support cross-platform play at launch.

“Making our VR titles cross-platform has been a goal of ours from the start and we’re happy to announce that Eagle Flight, Werewolves Within, and Star Trek: Bridge Crew will be playable cross-platform on PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive,” said David Votypka, senior creative director at Red Storm. “Our games feature a strong multiplayer experiences, so letting friends play together regardless of which headset they own will enhance the social nature of our games and let them be played the way we envisioned.”

Eagle Flight is available now on Oculus Rift and PSVR, and will be released on HTC Vive on December 20. In the game, players will experience the freedom of flying through the skies of Paris.

Developed by a team from the FunHouse, a division of Ubisoft Montreal, the game lets players become an eagle and fly over Paris and its iconic landmarks, 50 years after humans have left the city. Nature and wildlife has taken back the city, creating a rich playground and offering an incredible experience of free flight and adventure. The game offers both a singleplayer experience and a multiplayer experience that allows players to work in a team with up to six players in two modes.

“We’re excited to make the dream of flying come true with Eagle Flight,” said Olivier Palmieri, Game Director at Ubisoft Montreal back in December last year. “Virtual reality has created new and amazing opportunities for game developers and we wanted to offer a full VR game that took full advantage of the technological advances. With the breakthrough we’ve been working on, we’re confident Ubisoft’s first game developed solely for VR will be a truly enjoyable experience for everyone who plays it.”

Werewolves Within is slated for a December 6 release, while Star Trek: Bridge Crew is coming out on March 14. Both games will be available for all three platforms at launch.
