French publisher Ubi Soft has announced that it has surpassed its sales growth forecasts for the fiscal year ended March 31. The company reported net consolidated sales of $236 million for the period, up 39.4 percent when compared with the previous fiscal year. Despite the growth in sales, net income for Ubi Soft decreased to $4.2 million during the fiscal year. The company blamed sluggish sales of next-generation console games and an industry transition for the reduced net income. However, Ubi Soft currently has 160 games in development, of which 70 are being developed for new console platforms. The company expects a 35 to 40 percent increase in sales in the coming fiscal year as the next-generation console market continues to build momentum and the company's products for the Sony PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox, and Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance are released.
