In a recent interview, Tomb Raider movie director Simon West told UK-based film site Empire Online that he may be involved with two more films based on the Tomb Raider franchise. "Everyone's signed on for three pictures," West said. "I have the choice to do them if I want. I don't have to, but I'm very protective of it, because I've created the world and the people in it."
He went on to explain that the current Tomb Raider movie project, starring Angelina Jolie, follows a new-age story of mysticism. As Lara Croft goes on her quest to find several sacred objects, she will uncover mysteries surrounding her past as well. West says the story will be very visceral with fundamental aspects such as loyalty, betrayal, physical prowess, and heroism. The next movie - if in fact it goes into production - will be more scientifically based.
Simon West has directed such popular movies as Con Air and The General's Daughter.
