Wii Sports set the tone early for the direction that many developers would take in bringing games to Nintendo's motion-sensing console, and this week one more athletic minigame compilation heads to the system. Triple Throwing Sports is just one of two WiiWare titles out this week, while DSiWare picks up three new digital offerings.

　　The Code Monkeys' Triple Throwing Sports is available for 500 Wii points ($5), and the developer calls it "the most advanced recreational throwing game available for the WiiWare service." In it, up to two players can compete in a variety of Olympic sports throwing competitions, including javelin, discus, shot put, and hammer.

　　If this javelin were one big dart, The Code Monkeys would be hoping for a bull's eye. Parents looking for an interactive learning aid can pick up The Very Hungry Caterpillar's ABCs, from Cybird Co. Based on the children's book of the same name, the 800 Wii point ($8) title offers lessons on the fundamentals of the English language and includes activities such as alphabet flash cards, vocabulary quizzes, and more. The title also includes a mode for parents that helps them track the progress of their child.

　　The most notable DSiWare release this week is Everyday Soccer from Aksys Games. The customizable game of footie lets gamers build out their world-class soccer teams, offering choices that range from the body type to the shorts color of their players. The 500 DSi point ($5) title also features multiplayer action for up to two.

　　Elsewhere, gamers can pick up the parkour-inspired platformer GO Series 10 Second Run, from Gamebridge. Costing 200 DSi points ($2), the downloadable title challenges players to complete an obstacle course at a frenetic pace as a stick figure. Countdown Calendar from Nintendo also costs 200 DSi points and functions as an event planner for gamers on the go.

　　Lastly, this week's Virtual Console offering is Sunsoft's Aero the Acrobat 2, which saw first release on the SNES in 1994. The 2D platformer features the titular gymnastic hero as he works through 45 stages in an effort to defeat the nefarious industrialist Edgar Ektor. The game costs 800 Wii points ($8).
