Realm Interactive announced today that it plans to resurrect the classic BBS game Trade Wars 2002 in the form of a massively multiplayer online RPG titled Trade Wars: Dark Millennium. The game has currently been announced only for the PC platform, but a representative of Realm Interactive told GameSpot that the company also hopes to release it on next-generation consoles. The company will shortly begin speaking with publishers regarding the console versions of the game, and it has targeted the Sony PlayStation 2 and the Microsoft Xbox as the potential platforms.
Key features in Trade Wars: Dark Millennium includes the ability to construct trade routes, form corporations, and build empires. In the game, players will command several distinct factions, each with their own abilities. The PC version of Trade Wars: Dark Millennium will be released in Q4 2001, while a console version will follow, contingent on the finalization of a publisher agreement.
