Toy Story 4 Delayed Again, as The Incredibles 2 Moves Up-September 2024
Sep 21, 2024 10:42 AM

Disney announced today that the release dates for two highly anticipated Pixar movies, Toy Story 4 and The Incredibles 2, have shifted.

Toy Story 4 is now scheduled to come out on June 21, 2019, which is a a one-year delay from its previous June 15, 2018 release date. This is at least the second time the animated movie has been delayed, as it was originally pegged to come out in June 2017. Toy Story 3 came out in 2010.

Taking Toy Story 4's previous 2018 date will be The Incredibles 2. According to Disney sources speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the films are exchanging dates because Pixar "accelerated" the production schedule for The Incredibles 2 for reasons that were not explained.

We know that Toy Story 4 will be a love story about Woody and Bo Peep (among other things), though specifics about the plot are being kept under wraps. As for The Incredibles 2, director Brad Bird said this summer that the movie goes in "new directions," but fans shouldn't worry.

It's been a long time coming for fans of the original, which came to theaters in November 2004. Assuming The Incredibles 2 stays on its new schedule, it will arrive some 14 years after the first one.

The next Pixar movie is 2017's Cars 3. After Toy Story 4 comes out in 2019, Pixar does not have any further sequels planned for any of its franchises.
