Jordan Peele's first time in the director's chair proved to be a success, as the thriller Get Out won the weekend at the US box office, taking in $30.5 million Friday-Sunday.
Rounding out the top five films at the US box office this weekend were The Lego Batman Movie ($19 million), John Wick: Chapter 2 ($9 million), The Great Wall ($8.7 million), and Fifty Shades Darker ($7.7 million). All of these numbers come from Entertainment Weekly.
Get Out had a budget of only $4.5 million, so it's a big hit already. It stars Allison Williams and Daniel Kaluuya.
Overall, US box office figures for February 24-26 were down 2.7 percent compared to the same weekend last year.
