TOKYO - Tokyo Game Show 2000 Spring started off pretty slow with booths mostly displaying games we expected to see--no surprises. Square's Final Fantasy IX and The Bouncer were on video display running only a few seconds of looping footage. No gameplay screens were shown in the short clip either. Capcom's Resident Evil Zero was playable at the booth. Only 20 percent complete, REZ ran choppy during certain gameplay scenes and definitely exhibited that there's still room for improvement.
Sega's booth was focused on network games such as Phantasy Star Online. From what we heard from our editors in Japan currently on the show floor, the game, while only shown in a video display, looks promising.
We'll have lots of screens and movie clips from the Tokyo Game Show starting Friday morning. Expect to see Grandia II, Phantasy Star Online, Resident Evil Zero, Final Fantasy IX, The Bouncer and other games in action tomorrow.
