Get ready for more cowabunga for your buck, because Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is unleashing new DLC, entitled “Dimension Shellshock,” later this year. The DLC’s main addition is the new playable character Usagi Yojimbo, which ought to excite old-school TMNT fans. Just like the Turtles themselves, Usagi Yojimbo got his start in the black-and-white indie comics scene and has crossed over with the Heroes in the Half Shell numerous times dating all the way back to the 80s. You can check out Usagi in action, below.
Interestingly, the trailer promises Dimension Shellshock will feature new characters, plural, so it seems Canadian TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge developer Tribute Games has some more surprises in store. Given the inter-dimensional theme of the DLC, could we see more crossover characters? While you mull that over, here’s a bit more info on Usagi Yojimbo…
“Dimension Shellshock brings a new playable fighter in the razor-sharp Usagi Yojimbo, star of the self-titled comic book series and a fan-favorite ally to the Turtles seen in previous cameos across the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series and action figure releases. The steely rabbit samurai unsheathes his blade in new gameplay today.”
In addition to new characters, Dimension Shellshock will offer a new game mode, alternate skins and color schemes, and some fresh tunes. Haven’t been keeping up with TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge? Wccftech’s Ule Lopez found the game to be an excellent retro beat ‘em up in his full review…
“TMNT: Shredder's Revenge brings the best of the arcades and the modern-day improvements like higher fidelity visuals and online play to magnificently bring together an amazing beat 'em up that can be enjoyed by just about anyone. You will be able to enjoy this beat 'em up even if you don't have any sort of investment in the IP as the game's accessible mechanics and replay value will keep you coming back to kick some bad guys out of Manhattan.”
TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge can be played on PC, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Switch, and mobile platforms. The Dimension Shellshock DLC launches sometime later this year.
