Titanfall 2 Won’t Have Any Season Pass, All Maps & Modes Added Post-Launch Will Be Free-October 2024
Oct 23, 2024 1:23 AM

In the last couple years, we've had to get used to all games getting their own Season Pass. It is definitely refreshing to learn that a major AAA game, Titanfall 2, won't have any: in fact, all post-launch maps and modes will be released for free.

Respawn Entertainment confirmed this in a blog post where they explained how Titanfall 2 is a different shooter.

No Season Pass required: all maps & modes will be free in Titanfall 2 Multiplayer. This means no splitting up the community and it all starts with the legendary Angel City map, remastered from the original Titanfall. This means once you’ve purchased Titanfall 2, your investment includes a full single player campaign, the full multiplayer maps and modes, and long-term support with no hidden costs. You can pre-order the game to play 3 days early, but it will never cost you extra.

Not having a Season Pass is far from being the only unique feature of the game, of course. To begin with, developer Respawn Entertainment added a full-fledged single player story that aims to be different from your average shooter campaign filled with set pieces. It's a personal story that explores the relationship between Pilot and Titan while providing plenty of gameplay variety as well as epic boss fights.

Gameplay is even faster than the first game thanks to the grappling hook and there are many new Titans with unique abilities. Multiplayer will be powered by multi-cloud servers for reliability and scalability, while the brand new Networks feature will ensure that groups can easily play together at all times.

Titanfall 2, which still runs on a heavily updated Source engine, is out tomorrow worldwide on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There won't be any cross-play right now, but Respawn didn't rule it out completely.

It will be interesting to see how the game performs launching in between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
