Potions in Thymesia are your best ally. They will come in handy and prevent you from dying countless times, especially during the first hours of the adventure when you haven’t yet mastered the game mechanics. You will start your journey with three basic potions that must be rationed carefully, but you will soon be able to upgrade them and even unlock new ones.

　　This guide will show you how to upgrade potions in Thymesia using the so-called Alchemy Enhancers, ingredients, and recipes, and also how to unlock the Long-lasting and Fast-acting Potions.

　　

Thymesia Potions: Quick Overview

You have three different types of potions in Thymesia: General, Long-lasting, and Fast-acting. The first one is at your disposal since the very beginning of the game, while the other two will be unlocked after you beat the Sea of Trees and the Royal Garden’s bosses. Here’s a quick overview of each potion:

　　General Potion: its effects are immediate. It has 100% health and energy recovery effectiveness.Long-lasting Potion: recover over some time. It has 150% health and energy recovery effectiveness.Fast-acting Potion: its effects are immediate. It has, however, 50% health and energy recovery effectiveness. The number of potions you can carry increases significantly.

How To Obtain Alchemy Enhancers in Thymesia

Alchemy Enhancers can be used to upgrade potions at the Beacon. You will not find them by just exploring the map or killing standard mobs; you need to defeat the mini-bosses you find in each level to obtain them. You will recognize them quickly because the music theme will change; moreover, they will take far less damage from your attacks than the standard mobs and also deal more damage to you.

　　You need to study their moves carefully and prepare a counter-offensive accordingly. Prepare to deflect and dodge a lot, as they will aggressively try to kill you. Once you defeat them, you will obtain an Alchemy Enhancer. Be aware that, unlike standard enemies, mini-bosses won’t come back to life once you rest at the Beacon, so you have a limited number of Alchemy Enhancers at your disposal.

　　

How To Use Alchemy Enhancers in Thymesia

You can enter the Potions menu at the Beacon and select your preferred potion. Here, you have the chance to upgrade it by using Alchemy Enhancers. You can increase the number of potions you can carry with you, the health you will recover, and unlock one or more (up to three) ingredient slots to add additional effects.

　　Each time you upgrade one of the three options available, the following enhancement on the same line will cost you more. In total, you need 18 Alchemy Enhancers to upgrade a potion fully.

　　

How To Use Potion Ingredients

During your adventure in the Hermes Kingdom, you can even find different ingredients to enhance your potions. They can be obtained from enemies, just like the Alchemy Enhancers, but in this case, one kill does not assure you will get an ingredient each time.

　　Ingredients have several interesting effects: Sage, for example, further increases the amount of health you recover, while Cinnamon increases the damage dealt to enemies for half a minute. Thyme, instead, lets you gain some energy back. If you combine three ingredients correctly, you can unlock up to eight recipes for your potions.
