It's the game that never made it to store shelves - Virgin's Thrill Kill. Last week, GameSpot News reported on its cancellation but rumors to the contrary have persisted. Today, we clarified with Westwood Studios, who took over the project from Virgin and was purchased by Electronic Arts recently.
The official word and this has been the case ever since the game's demise was announced - is that due to its graphic content, Electronic Arts does not think it is suitable for the market. But, Westwood does own the engine and the technology in the game (which is actually quite innovative) and may release a game in the future using that engine. Nothing's been decided as to whether a game using this engine will see the light of day, but we'll keep you posted. And contrary to still persistent rumors on the Web, the game is not being "cleaned up" content-wise for a future release.
