Publisher THQ has made it clear it plans to evolve its business, but it appears to be making a game of it as well. THQ is looking to Evolve for new game software.
On February 22, THQ filed a trademark application with the United States Patent & Trademark Office for "Evolve." The mark is to be used for "video game software."
No further information regarding the trademark application is available, and a THQ representative told GameSpot, "Sorry, no, we don't comment on filings."
THQ has had a troubled year. It lost $56 million during the 2011 holiday quarter and cut as many as 240 jobs as part of its move away from the children's game sector. On top of that, THQ has until July 23 to get its stock valuation above $1 per share or it will face delisting from American stock market Nasdaq.
