THQ playing with Barbie, He-Man
THQ playing with Barbie, He-Man-October 2024
Oct 26, 2024 4:29 AM

THQ may have turned 21 last year, but the publisher has no intention to stop playing with toys. The company today announced a partnership with Mattel that will see new games made for a slew of the toy maker's top brands.

No word on if the deal allows THQ to create Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Barbie. Under the terms of the deal, THQ will produce and distribute video games based on Mattel's most popular franchises, including Barbie, Polly Pocket, Hot Wheels, Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots, and Masters of the Universe (best known for He-Man).

The new titles will arrive on numerous platforms, including mobile devices, consoles, handhelds, PCs, and social networks, as well as Xbox Live Arcade, WiiWare, and the PlayStation Network.

In addition to the above destinations, THQ said it will bring Mattel's brands to its proprietary peripheral, the $70 uDraw Game Tablet, which is pegged to sell 1.3 million units by March. THQ and Mattel already teamed up on the tablet once, with the uDraw launch title Pictionary. The companies have also worked together multiple times on more traditional games, such as the THQ-published Hot Wheels: Track Attack and Barbie: Groom and Glad Pups, which debuted in November.
