Thijs 'ThijsNL' Molendijk
After his dominating streak in online cups and tournaments, Thijs 'ThijsNL' Molendijk finally snatched a first place finish at a LAN tournament. Besting Tempo Storm's Gaara, the young player took home $4,000. The series is definitely worth watching as it went the full distance - seven games full of turnarounds, incredible calculations and plays.
Thijs had a relatively easy group as the only popular name beside him was Lothar. Quickly dispatching both his opponents, he proceeded to the playoff phase where rookie Max awaited. Defeating his opponent 3-0, the Dutchman faced Cloud9's ek0p. There, Thijs scored his first loss in the entire tournament, but handled the rest of the series in a spectacular manner to advance to the grand finals.
The finals represented a full best-of-seven and it took the best out of both to determine the overall champion. A minor mistake in the last set - Warrior versus Warrior, was all it took for the Dutchman to take it home. This marks the first big tournament with for Thijs as his online domination of both Zotac and King of the Hill cups already have a legendary status.
